Can I just be allowed to cry?
To shed the tears bottled up in my cheeks
To relieve the pain that resides in my chest
And to say “I have had enough”… “It’s been hard on me too”
.
Can I lean on your shoulders?
And have your arms embrace me gently,
With a silence not meant to be awkward,
So that for once I would feel vulnerable enough to be consoled.
.
Can I just be allowed to cry?
Just once….at this moment
In front of you alone
So my tears will only be seen by your glistening eyes.
