TV is a huge part of my life. If you go through my posts, tons of them are about movies and TV shows.
For some time I put watching Daredevil off due to work and other TV shows.
But one weekend I decided to just go for it and dare the devil.
And was it the best decision I’d ever made, after going to Texas A&M.
Perhaps.
But this show is bloody brilliant. It’s so good I wanted to cry the first episode.
How could a show be that good?
Meet Matt Murdock, a kid who got into an accident while saving a man, and later on found out that he developed extremely strong senses.
He can hear everything, blocks away, smell and taste whatever around him without touching them.
And on top of all that, he is super smart.
What do you get when you have power and knowledge?
Batman.
Except that instead of Batman, we have Daredevil.
So 20 years forward, Matt and his best friend Foggy Nelson started their own firm, calling it “Nelson and Murdock, Attorneys at Law” and hired an ex client Karen Page as their secretary.
Matt, feeling obligated to make his city a better place, fights crimes at night, wearing a mask.
People who have seen him then start calling him the “Black Mask.”
On top of the city, sits Wilson Fisk, a brutal man with an iron fist who rules in the shadows. “A monster and a child,” Wilson will do anything to rebuild the city the way he wants.
And nothing or no one can get in his way.
Except for the blind Matt Murdock.
Matt Murdock is a man we can sit down at a coffee shop with, exchanging ideas and thoughts on current affairs and anything, really.
He’s the kind of guy we admire for his intelligence and attitude towards life, the kind of guy we can trust.
But at the same time, we know he’s hiding something.
I got invested in this character, and Charlie Cox is an amazing Matt Murdock.
He is engaging, he’s real, and he makes us root for him every time.
Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk is phenomenal. I don’t know that it could be such a big conflict trying to hate a villain. But we were shown how he became the man that he is. And we can’t blame him for anything.
The action in this show is awesome. It’s clean, it’s well done, and it’s obviously choreographed cautiously.
It’s so good I wanted to cry on the first episode.
I have the biggest crush on Rosario Dawson, and I think she kills it as Claire Temple. She’s stunning and she is a great match to Daredevil. Too bad in the comics she’s Luke Cage’s love interest.
I’m honestly not ready to see that yet. I’m all in for Luke and Jessica Jones.
As for plot line, it flows beautifully. We get to see more sides of each character, which I appreciate, and overall, it is a good story.
And it’s told brilliantly.
I am going to watch Season 2 next weekend, and from what I heard, it is kick ass crazy good. And much better than Season 1.
Well, Daredevil gets an 8.5/10.
Don’t watch it if you can’t handle blood and gore. But if you’re into this, and if you loved Deadpool, well you’ll dig this.
I dare you.
