Three hours ago, I started my journey back to Hogwarts. I was so excited. The little me was looking forward to this crazy ride.
I mean, Harry Potter is back!
And, he is almost 40, happily married and still famous as ever. If anything, he’s more famous now. This status, however, puts a lot of pressure on his middle child, Albus Severus.
Despite being a Potter, Albus gets into Slytherin and becomes best friends with the one and only Scorpius Malfoy. He can’t get anything right, or do anything well. In the eyes of many, he is a failure. And Albus dwells on it.
On the other hand, there is a rumor going on that with time travel, the Malfoys bring back Voldemort’s child. Apparently, the dark lord isn’t asexual. I always thought he was.
But rumor has it that the child is Scorpius, that the Malfoys raise him as their own.
So given his possible origin, Scorpius isn’t exactly liked by people and is shut out. The only friend he has is Albus, and their friendship remains strong throughout the years.
Albus feels the need to prove himself to his father, and Scorpius only wants to be with his best friend.
One night, Albus overhears a conversation between Amos Diggory and his father. Amos begs Harry to go back in time and save Cedric Diggory, but Harry refuses.
And what happens when these two kids come up with a plan to do the impossible? To save Cedric Diggory from his death?
How bad can time travel be?
When I finished reading this book, my heart was bleeding out on the floor. I wanted more, and I wished there was more of it.
I adore this book.
This story introduces us to Harry Potter as a father, something that is hard to imagine given the fact that he grew up an orphan. With the usually absent Dumbledore as the father figure. Say that in one go and it doesn’t sound good at all.
And we are introduced to Albus and Scorpius, the main characters, in my opinion, who are just taking me back to the many years ago of reading Harry Potter for the first time. Albus has his father’s courage. He has a lot of pain, but also has this sarcasm that tickles me. In the simplest way possible to describe him: he is a teenager.
And as for Scorpius. He is almost the combination of Hermione and Ron. The goofy guy who knows a lot of things and likes to read. I love this kid.
The characters are well written. I might not like Ron that much since he seems to be written her just as a comic relief and nothing more, but Hermione still wins over my heart.
Some parts feel a bit cheesy, but then again, it’s not Harry Potter if it doesn’t have the theme of “Love” going on here and there. I swear every time I re watch the last movie, I can’t stop myself from tearing up at “Always.”
I still cannot believe I finished it already. A part of me wants to reread the whole Harry Potter series.
But then I haven’t finished Game of Thrones.
This book receives a B from me. It’s an easy read. And fans who love Harry Potter should get their hands on this book.
One slight problem I have with this book though: there are so many questions left unanswered. Oh, and the title. You’ll get it when you read it.
